Venezuelan scholars describe Eusebio Leal as an ethical benchmark
31 de julio de 2020, 16:8Caracas, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) Eusebio Leal is one of the greatest figures of the last two centuries and an ethical benchmark for the left-wing of Latin American and the world, assured on Friday the coordinator of the Venezuelan Network of Intellectuals, Pedro Calzadilla.
After learning the news of the eminent Cuban historian's death, Calzadilla told Prensa Latina to be shocked, and sent a message of condolence to the Cuban people and to Leal's relatives through the news agency.
'Eusebio Leal is a reference for all, for our generations and for the upcoming ones, without hesitating, because of his ethical, intellectual, political, cultural and comprehensive legacy,' highlighted the Venezuelan intellectual.
Calzadilla noted Leal's vast written work and his material legacy and huge patrimonial rescue of Cuba's capital, having worked hard as the unforgettable Havana historian.
'I think we can hardly find another example of someone who has managed to move the national and international machinery and put it at the service of rescuing his country's heritage, as he did,' he reiterated.
The scholar stressed that Latin American historians always watched with admiration and respect Leal's work, who, he said, was always characterized by his immense working capacity and his tireless determination to accomplish all his great missions.
The Venezuelan intellectual finished his statements to Prensa Latina by saying, 'We give Eusebio a clamor of applause for him to always accompany us, so that he always continues to guide the fight of the peoples of our Americas for their independence, for their sovereignty.'
