Angola's authorities report Covid-19 cases in another two regions
31 de julio de 2020, 17:27Luanda, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) Angola's health authorities reported on Friday Covid-19 cases in another two regions and another 34 infections in Luanda province, deemed as the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
The Secretary of State for Public Health Franco Mufinda announced the finding of the first four afflicted in the northern province of Zaire, particularly in the Kwanda base, which supports logistically to the oil industry in Soyo municipality.
As updated, representatives at the central level of the multisectoral commission to prevent and fight against the pandemic will travel to that area on Saturday aiming to review all the biosecurity measures.
During the last 24 hours, molecular biology analyses (RT-PCR) also verified a first Covid-19 patient in Luena, capital of Moxico province, in the east of the country; the infected is a 37-year-old individual from the capital, Mufinda explained.
So far, the authorities have recorded Covid-19 cases in Cuanza Norte, Bie, Cabinda, Lunda Norte, Uige, Zaire, Moxico and Luanda, although the most worrying situation is in the latter province where there are local transmission cases.
Dr. Mufinda further corroborated another death in this capital city and called for the population to strictly comply with health instructions, including the mandatory use of facemasks, frequent hand washing and physical distancing.
Up to date, Angola has accumulated 1,148 Covid-19 cases, which includes 52 deaths, 437 recoveries from Covid-19 and 659 active cases, the expert summarized on a press briefing.
