Macron announces measures to protect elderly
Paris, Aug 4 (Prensa Latina) French President Emmanuel Macron announces on Tuesday measures for the protection of the elderly, in a context marked by the impact of Covid-19, the Elysee Palace announced.
Macron expects to interrupt for a few hours his holidays at the medieval Fort de Bregançon, located in the southern Var department, to visit an old woman and her life assistant in Toulon.
The president will recognize the companions of the elderly during the health crisis, a little mentioned sector, despite their exemplary role in the worst moments of the pandemic.
Older adults represent one of the most vulnerable population groups to fight the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, a pathogen responsible for more than 30,000 deaths in France, mainly people aged 60 years or over.
The Presidency also announced that Macron will send a message to the youngest amid the Covid-19 new outbreaks across the country, in order to remind them the risk of contagion in the holiday period and the importance of protecting their more vulnerable relatives.
