Angola's government reports 64 new Covid-19 cases
Luanda, Aug 4 (Prensa Latina) Angola's government reported on Tuesday another 64 Covid-19 cases, noting the growing spread of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the Luanda province, under a health barrier.
According to the National Director of Public Health Helga Freitas, 58 of the 64 afflicted live in different districts of Luanda, which has had many local transmission infections.
The remaining patients correspond to the northern region of Zaire, as well as to Bie (center) and Cunene (south), the representative of the multisectoral commission for the prevention and fight against the Covid-19 pandemic indicated on a press briefing.
In the last 24 hours, there was another death in this capital and 27 recoveries from Covid-19, underscored Dr. Freitas, who reiterated the call for the population to respect sanitary measures in order to contain the disease.
So far, she summarized, the country accumulates 1,344 Covid-19 cases, which includes 59 deaths, 503 recoveries and 782 active cases.
Among those admitted in hospitals, there are 18 seriously ill and four critically ill, said the specialist, highlighting the ongoing conduction of mass scans through rapid serological tests, with a view to detecting possible infections and adopting the pertinent measures of quarantine.
