Lebanon´s president rejects international probe into Beirut blast
29Beirut, Aug 10 (Prensa Latina) Lebanese Presidency´s Information Office has rejected to allow an international probe into Tuesday´s Beirut port blast.
In a statement signed by President Michel Aoun, the call for a foreign participation into the probe would only be to waste time.
'The judiciary must be quick, without rushing, clarifying who are responsible for the disaster and who are innocent,' he said.
The statement denies what was published on Asas site about a meeting between Aoun and Ahmed Aboul Gheit, secretary-general of Arab League, in which both agreed with the presence of an international investigation team.
Previously, Lebanon´s president stressed that an international probe with foreign experts was never considered among variants to find Beirut explosion culprits.
The blast killed 159 individuals, injured about 6,000 and partially or totally ravaged as many as 300,000 homes.
