China will reopen its borders to citizens of 36 European countries
Beijing, Aug 11 (Prensa Latina) China will readmit the entry to its soil of citizens of 36 European countries with residence permits, a sign of the easing of the border closure adopted as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, media reported on Tuesday.
According to a dispatch issued by the Global Times newspaper, the measure will benefit individuals from the member territories of the European Union, as well as Albania, North Macedonia, Iceland, Bosnia, Montenegro, Norway, Switzerland, Serbia and the United Kingdom.
The Chinese embassies or consulates will grant return visas free of charge to those who have permits for work, family reunification or personal affairs.
The decision was made to facilitate exchanges after China managed to establish mechanisms for the prevention and control of Covid-19 the newspaper indicates, as the newspaper indicated.
It also follows the announcement on July 21st about the requirement for health tests of Covid-19 with negative results to all domestic and foreign travelers before boarding flights bound for China.
According to this official notification, the tests must be carried out five days prior to the trip and at the institutions designated by the Chinese embassies in other parts of the world.
Chinese passengers will also be requested to enter a photo of the results on the digital epidemiological prevention system incorporated into the WeChat social network, the Chinese version of WhatsApp.
Foreigners will also need, in addition to the evidence, a written statement from the Chinese embassy attesting to their good health.
