Cuba will manufacture containers through an agreement with China
Ciego de Ávila, Cuba, Aug 11 (Prensa Latina) A modern line of Chinese technology for the production of containers of different volumes will come into operation in the coming days at the Cepil Plastic Articles Company, in this central province of Cuba.
The entity's director, Oscar Morales, pointed out that Cuban specialists will test the seven injection machines, with their auxiliary equipment, given the impossibility of their manufacturers being able to travel from China, due to the current epidemiological contingency due to Covid-19.
He specified that the new line will produce about 60 thousand buckets daily for the container of Vitral paintings in the San José de Las Lajas factory, in Mayabeque, which today does not exploit its productive capacity due to the lack of containers.
I point out that Cepil, the only industry of its kind in the country, with this new production is inserted in the process of productive chains and the substitution of imports, among the priorities that the Ministry of Industry in Cuba has today.
The factory has the raw material for the production of the buckets with capacities of 19, 10 and 3.8 liters, which will imply a great contribution to the country's economy, besieged by the heavy blockade imposed by the United States on the island.
The estimated investment of four million 100 thousand dollars, has a technology that engraves and prints the label and brand of the product, according to the design proposed by the clients, Morales said. These containers, due to their tightness and resistance, in addition to storing paint, can also be used to deposit other products such as food, he added.
Modern machines admit a series of molds and designs with which 11 new articles can be produced.
The company manufactures about 150 plastic objects for domestic, industrial and personal hygiene use, including brushes of different types and functions.
Endorsed by the international norms ISO 9001 and by the Lloyd Register, the productions are destined to the chains of Foreign Currency Collection Stores, the Ministry of Internal Trade and the Tourism sector.
Inaugurated on February 13, 1963, by the then Minister of Industries, Ernesto Che Guevara, the entity has gone through several stages until reaching a privileged position in the national market with a wide range of plastic articles.
