Colombia's senator highlights the need to implement Peace Agreement
ogota, Aug 11 (Prensa Latina) Colombia's senator Sandra Ramirez stressed on Tuesday the importance of implementing the measures included in the 2016 Peace Agreement in light of the peak in murders of former guerrillas.
'In the face of both such genocide that is advancing and the complicit silence of Colombia's State, today more than ever measures are necessary to protect the lives of the Peace Agreement's signatories,' assured the former member of the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army.
Ramirez, current senator for the Common Alternative Revolutionary Force (the political party that emerged from the armed group) condemned on the social network the recent murder of Wilfermin Robayo, one of the members of the guerrilla.
'We have counted 224 murders since the signing of the Peace Agreement in 2016 with then-President Juan Manuel Santos (2010-2018),' affirmed the Colombian congressperson.
The FARC maintains its commitment to the document and the justice mechanisms emanating from it despite the rise in crimes against former combatants and social leaders, as expressed on several occasions.
