Dominican authorities report 1,354 Covid-19 cases and 16 deaths
14 de agosto de 2020, 15:8Santo Domingo, Aug 14 (Prensa Latina) The Dominican Republic's health authorities reported on Friday 1,354 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, and 16 deaths from the lethal disease.
According to the daily press briefing, 6,954 Covid-19 patients are in hospital isolation and 26,586 are in home isolation.
Of the total afflicted, 51.48 percent are men and 228,803 people tested negative for carrying the novel coronavirus.
The territories with the highest number of infections are the Distrito Nacional (24,028), the province of Santo Domingo (18,593) and Santiago (8,729).
In the case of deaths, the average age is 67 years, 65.79 percent are men, who as a health record presented chronic diseases of long evolution such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
Concerning the deaths registered today, five were in the Distrito Nacional; three in La Altagracia and Puerto Plata; two in Santo Domingo, and one per capita in Santiago, San Juan and San Cristobal.
The fatality rate is 1.67 percent and the positivity rate is 32.48 percent.
