Palestinians reiterate support to Arab Peace Initiative
Cairo, Sep 15 (Prensa Latina) Secretary General of Fatah Movement in Egypt Dr. Mohamed Gharib reiterated on Tuesday that the Palestinians will reject any agreement contrary to the Arab Peace Initiative (API) and the previous proposals to settle the conflict with Israel.
Our people will continue to demand the establishment of a sovereign state, on the pre-1967 borders, an aspiration enshrined as legitimate in successive UN resolutions, the leader told Prensa Latina.
Ghareeb claimed that the steps taken by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain to normalize their ties with Tel Aviv violates the API, which dates back to 2002 and conditions such a possibility on the withdrawal of the Zionist government from the occupied territories by Israel, namely the Gaza Strip and the West Bank (including East Jerusalem).
Therefore, we will condemn any consensus which distorts such a premise as well as the prospects of establishing our independent homeland, he said.
In response to the decision by Abu Dhabi and Manama, the Palestinian leadership called for mobilizations in front of the Embassies of the two countries and the United States, whose President (Donald Trump) negotiated and announced both deals.
