Syria and United Nations advocate for cooperation on refugees
16 de septiembre de 2020, 14:47Damascus, Sep 16 (Prensa Latina) Syrian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem spoke with Filippo Grandi, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, to strengthen and advance cooperation and coordination on the issue.
In this sense, Al Moallem specified that international organizations must assess the negative effects of the blockade and sanctions against Syria, including the confrontation with the pandemic and the obstruction to the return of the displaced after the Syrian government has restored security in most of the country.
For his part, the UN official thanked the Syrian government for its efforts and appreciated its efforts to facilitate the work of the Commission in its territory.
Grandi explained the projects that are currently being implemented throughout the Syrian territory.
He assured that the commission will continue cooperation with Syria, far from the politicization that some are trying to impose.
