Chinese city completes Covid-19 tests with no new cases
Beijing, Sep 20 (Prensa Latina) The city of Ruili (Southwest China) checked the health of its 287,254 inhabitants without any reports of further people infested from Covid-19, apart from two illegal immigrants from Myanmar, the local press reported today.
According to the Global Times, despite this result, the local authorities decided to maintain the massive quarantine for the time being and continue to step up health surveillance in coordination with the neighboring country.
Ruili has the situation under control, but the rest of the Yunnan province registers eight imported cases and five asymptomatic ones from Covid-19.
That city was declared in contingency last week after the disease was confirmed in two Myanmar women who crossed the border illegally.
Ruili and Hong Kong are the only places in China affected by Covid-19, which so far has killed at least 4,744 people and affected 90,863.
