India Provides $250 Million in Aid to Maldives
Male, Sep 20 (Prensa Latina) India has provided $250 million USD in financial assistance to the Maldives as budget support to mitigate the economic impact of the current Covid-19 pandemic, was released today.
An award ceremony was held at the Foreign Ministry of the Maldivian government for the occasion which was attended by Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer, among others.
Maldives' Foreign Minister told the Raajje website that India proved to be a great friend during this difficult time of the pandemic.
The $250 million budget support was a response to the request made by Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to overcome the difficult economic situation in the Maldives due to the health crisis.
