China asks UN for concrete actions in multilateralism defense
Beijing, Sep 21 (Prensa Latina) Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday urged the UN to take concrete steps to protect multilateral system and promote the culture of consultations as the best tool in the face of any difference.
When intervening in a videoconference for the 75th anniversary of such an organization, Xi Jinping called for formulas to strengthen security, development and human rights in the world, especially amid the challenges derived from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Xi Jinping assured that China will remain as a promoter of multilateral system and the role of the UN in international issues, but he called the UN to remain firm in favor of justice, the rule of law and cooperation.
He deplored attempts by some countries to dominate global agenda and harass others for their own gain.
Xi Jinping considered as imperative to raise representation and voice of developing nations at the UN, as this would provide more balance when presenting their interests and aspirations.
He advocated respect for the purposes and principles of the UN and urged the powers to set an example, avoid double standards and not distort the laws at their convenience to undermine global peace and stability.
'What we really need is to replace conflict with dialogue, coercion with consultations (...) We need to work to protect common interests (...) and build a great family with harmony and cooperation,' Xi Jinping said.
