China would reject US efforts to appropriate itself of Tik Tok
Beijing, Sep 22 (Prensa Latina) China would reject the version of the agreement that turns the US companies Oracle and Walmart into majority partners of Tik Tok, as it is unfair and an attempted robbery, Global Times reported on Tuesday.
According to an editorial in the influential newspaper, the Government will not yield to Washington's intimidation, nor will accept an unequal deal against domestic companies, because if it does, ByteDance would practically have no control over its own social network.
This agreement responds to irrational demands from the White House, and implementing it would allow its authorities to control, through 'tricks and coercions', other Chinese companies that are expanding on US soil and are competitive.
Global times warned that that way, 'Washington would enjoy technological hegemonic forever', because US citizens would hold four of five seats in the board of directors of Tik Tok Global, as the new corporation among ByteDance, Oracle and Walmart will be called.
It would also have access to the updates and source code of Douyin, the Chinese version of the application, because they share the same systems.
The United States pursues its own interests through hegemonic channels. The International society, including China, cannot accept it, said the newspaper, which noted the importance of solving any concern about cybernetic security in a fair and reasonable manner.
Last weekend, new details were revealed about the deal on Tik Tok Global, whose creation demands the approval of both Beijing and Washington.
