China and Cuba advocate for a future of closer ties
Beijing, Sep 28 (Prensa Latina) Leaders of China and Cuba today called to work towards a future of stronger friendship and cooperation, highlighting the strength and results of their six decades of diplomatic relations.
President Xi Jinping assured in his letter to Raul Castro, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, that he wishes to maintain communication and take this opportunity to promote both states as 'good friends, good comrades and good brothers forever' .
Havana -he stressed- was the first government in Latin America and the Caribbean to formalize ties with Beijing in 1960, since then their exchanges withstood international challenges, cultivated political trust and developed fruitful cooperation.
In his message to President Miguel Díaz-Canel, Xi also reviewed the evolution of 60 years of ties and praised the mutual support of the two countries in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, considering that this allowed to write another chapter of fraternal interaction.
He emphasized the high importance he attaches to relations with Cuba, expressing his willingness to deepen political trust and join forces to expand mutually beneficial collaboration into new areas.
In response, Raul Castro stressed the sincerity of the friendship between both nations and their communist parties, while expressing his full conviction that it will flourish and will pass from generation to generation.
In the same way, Díaz-Canel vowed to cultivate and consolidate it so that it would allow us to achieve new conquests together in the future.
Apart from the leaders, Prime Ministers Li Keqiang and Manuel Marrero also exchanged messages of congratulations on this day.
On September 28, China and Cuba celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations that have become a benchmark precisely for establishing a friendship that helped overcome challenges and expand cooperation to significant levels.
The anniversary also marks the establishment of links between the Asian country with Latin America and the Caribbean.
