Qatar, Afghanistan discuss peace process
7 de octubre de 2020, 15:32Doha, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani met to discuss about peace talks for the Central Asian nation that will be held on September 12.
During the talks, which took place on Tuesday at the Amiri Diwan, the Afghan leader thanked Qatar for its commitment to the peace process for his country, the Qatar News Agency reported.
Both leaders also talked about bilateral relations that, according to Qatar, will be strengthened as a result of Ghani's official visit.
After his arrival in Doha on Monday, the Afghan president also met with the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, with whom he spoke about the means to promote ties between the two states.
During the visit, members of the House of People's Representatives and the House of Elders of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, met with the Qatari-Asian Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Shura Council (Parliament of Qatar).
