Covid-19 pandemic to prevent Bolivians from voting in Panama, Chile
La Paz, Oct 16 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian residents in Panama and five cities in northern Chile will not be able to cast their votes in the upcoming general elections in their country, as a result of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, an official source said on Friday.
The Chilean cities of Arica, Iquique, Antofagasta, Calama and Copiapo, and Panama suspended the voting for at least 28,581 Bolivians on October 18, a number that accounts for 9% of registered voters, the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) confirmed.
Official statistics show that there are 2,985 Bolivians in Arica, 16,803 in Antofagasta, 7,356 in Tarapaca, 1,305 in Atacama, and 142 voters in Panama.
