Vietnam: 45 days with no Covid-19 infections or deaths
17 de octubre de 2020, 12:7Hanoi, Oct 17 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam on Saturday extended to 45 days with no local Covid-19 infections and to 44 days with no deaths, as reported by the commission in charge of containing the pandemic.
Since the beginning of the new coronavirus to the country, Vietnam has reported 1,124 patients, while death toll remains at just 35 since September 2.
Meanwhile, the toll of recoveries jumped to 1,131, nearly 92%. Among those patients still hospitalized, none are at risk of death and 16 came back negative after being tested two or three times.
Slightly more than 13,300 people are quarantined in hospitals, health centers or even at home. The vast majority of these individuals are Vietnamese who returned from other countries where they were infected.
The basic statistics of the disease, especially the absence of community infections, confirm that July 25´s outbreak in the central city of Da Nang is under control.
Vietnam is entering a 'new normal' phase that is going through the progressive relaxation of confinement measures and the resuscitation of productive and social activities.
