No deaths nor internal Covid-19 cases in Vietnam
Hanoi, Oct 18 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam reached today 46 days without Covid-19 community infections and 45 days with no deaths, which is a constant proof of the effectiveness of the control and prevention measures the Government has taken to halt the pandemic.
To date, the country has reported 1,126 infections, but the 73 cases since Sept.2 are repatriated nationals or diplomats and foreign experts authorized to come back for being necessary for the national economy. Deaths are limited to 53 since Sept. 3.
On the other hand, the number of recoveries is 1,031. Those who are still in hospital are not at risk of dying, and 23 tested negative in at least one novel coronavirus detection test.
Over 13,000 people are quarantined in hospitals, centers set up for this or their homes. Most of them are Vietnamese who have returned from other countries where they were surprised by the pandemic.
The basic statistics of this disease, especially the lack of internal infections, corroborate that the July 25 surge in new coronavirus cases in the central city of Da Nang is under control. Even in that city life flows normally, although wearing a face mask is compulsory in public places.
Vietnam is entering a 'new normal' phase, that is, the progressive relaxation of lockdown measures and revival of the economy. According to international organizations, its economy will be the only one in Southeast Asia that will grow this year. It will grow by 8 percent next year.
