Syrian technicians take on total repair of power plant
Damascus, Oct 18 (Prensa Latina) Syria took on for the first time with its own resources and national technicians the total repair of Al Zara power plant, in the central province of Hama, experts reported on Sunday.
Ali Hassan Muhammad, maintenance director, indicated that the maintenance of the first group will be due for Nov.15, and it will be reconnected to the general electrical grid in Syria with an additional electrical charge of more than 185 megawatts.
Work on this first group, he said, has an estimated cost of 5,800,000 Euros, whereas a foreign company offered to do the job for 7,227,000 Euros, which prompted the power plant management to carry out this work with their own effort, resources, and experts.
The fact that national experts fulfilled this task saves hard currency and contributes to overcome the effects of the blockade and the sanctions that prevent the acquisition of spare parts, executives of the power plant indicated.
The power plant has three generators and is considered to be one of the most modern power stations of Syria.
