Another molecular biology laboratory is inaugurated in Cuba
Matanzas, Cuba, Oct 18 (Prensa Latina) A modern laboratory of molecular biology was inaugurated on Sunday in the western Cuban province of Matanzas, which will have the capacity to carry out up to a thousand daily tests of polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
The director of the Pedro Kouri Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK) from the capital city. Manuel Romero, highlighted to the press the importance of the new institution for the territory of Matanzas and other surrounding areas, as part of the fight against Covid-19.
The expert remembered that Matanzas will begin to receive from next October 25 foreign tourists after the reopening of the famous and near seaside resort of Varadero.
Besides Havana, he mentioned that the provinces of Villa Clara (center), Santiago de Cuba (east), and more recently, Ciego de Avila (center), Holguin (east), and now Matanzas (west) also have these units.
Health directors pointed out that the technical staff of this unit, with a total of 28 specialists working in shifts around the clock were trained in the Pedro Kouri Institute.
