Syria increases volume of exports
19 de octubre de 2020, 18:28Damascus, Oct 19 (Prensa Latina) The volume of exports of Syria rose by 44 percent in the first nine months of the present year, according to information from the Ministry of Economy.
Muhammad Samer Al Khalil, minister of Economy and Foreign Trade said that 'the deficit of the commercial balance went down with the rise of exports and the reduction of imports in order to protect and boost national production and local investment.'
'The volume of imports dropped to 3.1 billion euros during the nine months of 2020. In the same period last year, it was 4 billion euros,' he said.
In that sense, he revealed that 'there was a deficit of nearly 23 percent, and added that his ministry has a program to boost small companies and promote increases in the national production.'
Al Khalil denounced the impact of the sanctions and the economic blockade on the process of exportation of basic raw materials, which generally affects all sectors.
These aspects were discussed today at the regular weekly session of the People's Assembly, Parliament.
