Maradona turns 60 and the sports world congratulates him
Buenos Aires, Oct 30 (Prensa Latina) From the Brazilian Ronaldo to Cuban jumper Javier Sotomayor, 156 famous athletes from around the world are joining Argentines today to celebrate an all-time great, Diego Armando Maradona, on his 60th birthday.
Diego of the people, the Pelusa, the Hand of God, or simply Maradona, the one who by determination and despite the stairs he had to climb to touch the glory with his impeccable left-foot, continues to give war to life today, in front of what he is most passionate about, the smell of the field and that ball running on the court.
From his present team Gimnasia La Plata, of which he has been the coach for just over a year, the Pibe de Oro celebrates this new birthday, surrounded by the love and affection of his people, but also by hundreds of colleagues who congratulate him over the world.
As he anticipated, many surprises are expected today, also coinciding with the return to football after a long hiatus due to the pandemic, congratulations began to arrive for that child born in 1960 at Hospital Evita de Lanús, who has never forgotten his roots.
'I suspect that something wonderful is going to happen tomorrow ...', he wrote the day before on the 10th, his Instagram account, which he accompanies with a video without sound with the faces of figures from different countries and disciplines such as the Brazilians Ronaldinho and Mourinho, the Argentines Juan Manuel del Potro, Diego Schwartzman and Gabriel Batistuta or the Colombians Radamel Falcao and Carlos (El Pibe) Valderrama.
This will be a Friday of emotions for Diego. In addition to the fact that his gymnastics team will debut in the Professional Football League Cup before the Board of Trustees, the former star will lead a solidarity initiative in conjunction with the Red Cross of this country, to provide food assistance in 10 cities.
As announced days ago, the project entitled Las 10 del 10, will include the donation of the same number of signed shirts for auction, to contribute food assistance and carry out infrastructure works in various districts of the nation.
The first aid will be precisely today in a very special place, Villa Palito, in the Buenos Aires town of La Matanza, where a soccer space will be inaugurated in honor of Father Bachi, a reference of the villeros priests, who died a victim of Covid-19.
'We are going to wire and close the space that bears the name of Father Bachi, so that the girls and boys can play calmly and protected,' said the Pibe de Oro.
For these hours on Twitter, many fans wish Maradona a happy birthday as a great tribute is expected during this day on the emblematic Buenos Aires 9 de Julio avenue.
