Turkey's authorities report over 10 deaths due to earthquake
Ankara, Oct 30 (Prensa Latina) Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported on Friday 12 deaths due to an earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale with its epicenter in the Aegean Sea.
The agency also detailed that the number of injured amounted to 438 and the total number of missing is unknown.
Rescue teams continue searching and rescuing possible survivors after the collapse of over 17 buildings in the western province of Izmir.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the telluric movement occurred 18 kilometers northeast of Karlovasi, on the Greek island of Samos, and 58 kilometers southwest of Karabaglar, in Izmir.
Meanwhile, Greek media informed two teen deaths after the fall of a wall due to the earthquake.
Turkey's Defense Ministry established an emergency committee and sent two helicopters to the most affected area, while Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu updated that other provinces suffered minor impacts, including Usak, Denizli, Manisa, Balikesir, Aydin and Mugla.
