Russia to help Syria with $1 billion
Damascus, Nov 11 (Prensa Latina) Russia announced today the allocation of more than one billion dollars for the reconstruction of Syria, according to the head of the Russian-Syrian Coordination Center for Refugee Return, Mikhail Mezentsev.
The Russian representative spoke on Wednesday at the international conference on refugees, which opened at the Convention Palace in the capital and which extends its sessions until Thursday.
'Russian ministries are promoting projects in several important fields such as education, medicine, investment in natural resources, housing construction, trade, economy and scientific-technical cooperation,' Mezentsev specified.
He also indicated that 'representatives of Russia and Syria will sign, on the sidelines of the conference, eight memorandums of cooperation between the two parties in the fields of energy, customs and educational activities'.
On the other hand, from Moscow it was announced that Russia will soon open a trade office in Damascus, which will help implement all the agreements in this regard.
