Terrorist chief's ties to US revealed in Iraq
21 de noviembre de 2020, 10:32Baghdad, Nov 21 (Prensa Latina) Documents disclosed on Saturday by the Iraqi TV channel Al-Forat revealed that Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Quraishi, the current leader of the Islamic State (IS), cooperated with US intelligence.
According to the declassified texts, Al-Quraishi provided information in 2008 about his fellow group members during his time in the Camp Bucca prison, in southern Iraq.
Of 66 questionings conducted to the terrorist, only three came to light and confirmed that the extremist leader collaborated with the US intelligence service.
Statements about the group's kidnappings and operations and how it managed to reinforce its positions, despite the presence of US troops, were also revealed.
The terrorist group lost its urban strongholds in Iraq and Syria, but its remnants or sleeper cells are operational against Baghdad's interests.
In October, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, former leader of the Islamic State (IS), killed himself during a US military operation in northern Syria, and al-Quraishi assumed the leadership of the group.
