Cuba denounces obstacles to regular migratory flow with the US
Paramaribo, Dec 5 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's government denounced that the United States is currently hindering the regular migratory flow between both countries by adopting measures with clear political motives.
In that sense, Cuban diplomatic representation to Suriname informed about the intention of Cuban citizens to arrive to the US in an irregular way from that territory, a situation of which they have warned local authorities.
The intention to migrate irregularly is largely the result of the US adoption of politically motivated measures that twart a regular, orderly and safe migratory flow between Cuba and that country, an embassy's communiqué sets out. Likewise, the document adds, it responds to the US failure to comply with the migration agreements in force, in particular with the failure to grant the minimum number of visas for Cuban citizens who wish to emigrate.
The Cuban Embassy in Suriname also recalls that in the attempt to reach the United States or other countries through irregular channels, Cuban citizens become victims of traffickers and criminal gangs operating in the region.
It adds that in the Covid-19 context, any such displacement constitutes an epidemiological risk.
The government of Cuba maintains its willingness to continue the collaboration and exchange in migratory issues with Suriname, in order to guarantee the regular, orderly and safe migration and the right to travel of its citizens.
