Construction of Great Egyptian Museum nears completion

The opening of the exhibition site, which occupies a total of 50 hectares, was postponed from 2020 to this year in order to achieve the completion of all the work, despite the restrictions arising from the pandemic and to ensure the highest possible attendance of public, mainly foreign visitors.
The Museum will house thousands of pieces on Egyptian civilization, from the Pharaonic to the Greco-Roman periods, discovered over several decades of research. As well as the construction work, restorers will retouch thousands of objects in laboratories to be exhibited later.
Some of its walls are aligned with the pyramids of Kephren, Mycerinus and the legendary Cheops, the only one of the seven wonders of antiquity that remains.
The site will include an exhibition space designed for children's entertainment, a convention center and one for educational purposes, in addition to the one dedicated to conservation missions.
