Tehran, Jan 12 (Prensa Latina) Iran announced on Tuesday the possibility of exporting heavy water because the country is self-sufficient in its production and generates surpluses.
Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), stated that the Islamic Republic is currently marketing heavy water in eight countries.
Kamalvandi pointed out that independence is being sought in the nuclear sector for which heavy water is essential.
'The nuclear development of the Islamic Republic is unstoppable,' he said.
Under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or nuclear deal, Iran agreed to store a limit quantity of that product.
However, when the United States withdrew from deal that was also signed by United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia and China, and reimposed coercive measures lifted by consent, Tehran began to cut its obligations, among them eliminating restrictions on quantities of heavy water to be produced and stored.
