Ramallah, Jan 12 (Prensa Latina) Palestinian inmates are at risk of being excluded from Covid-19 vaccination in Israeli prisons, where the numbers of coronavirus infections is increasing, a humanitarian group denounced on Tuesday.
At least 191 convicts were infected with Covid-19 in prison, where the Israeli Government vaccinates the guards, the Palestinian Prisoners' Commission informed in a statement released by WAFA news agency.
Such a policy shows a total disregard for the health and welfare of Palestinian inmates, in addition to the terrible conditions of those prisons, having an impact on the spread of the coronavirus and the incidence of other diseases that could cause deaths, the Commission noted.
Human rights groups in Israel and leaders of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) rejected the decision to leave more than 4,000 prisoners out of the vaccination program.
According to data from the PNA and several groups, some 4,000 Palestinians, including women, children, elderly and people with chronic diseases, are held in Israel prisons.
