Beirut, Jan 13 (Prensa Latina) Lebanon reported a record of 76 deaths in a day from Covid-19 and 4,557 infections, despite more restrictive measures, the Ministry of Health informed on Wednesday. Lebanon accumulates a total of 1,705 deaths to date and 226,948 cases of Covid-19.
The Ministry's report indicated that 1,597 patients remain hospitalized, 618 of them are admitted in intensive care units and 176 are connected to mechanical ventilators.
As of Thursday, Lebanese authorities will adopt a total lockdown for 12 days that will include a 24-hour curfew, maritime and land borders will close, and only essential sectors will operate.
Since January 7, a less strict lockdown has been underway that has been ineffective due to that more than 30,000 people have been recorded with Covid-19 so far. mh/iff/mem/arc
