One of the premises of this process is to make the most of investments, in order to increase production and yields, guarantee more food supplies to the population and save energy, which will require efficient management of financial sources, making it possible to acquire the resources needed for investments and adequate planning, organization and management of the process, the director of Investments and Development at the Ministry of Agriculture, Luis Enrique Diaz, noted.
Among the main projections of the 2021-2030 investment plan are agricultural production and its industrial processing from various programs such as grains, viands and vegetables, citrus, fruit trees and tobacco.
Urban, suburban and family agriculture will also be prioritized, with the rehabilitation of all giant organoponics in order to increase the cultivation of vegetables, condiments and fruits for local consumption.
Investments in the agroforestry sector will be based on feasibility studies approved in several prioritized programs, such as coffee, cocoa, coconut and honey, the latter of which is among the main exportable items.
Other priorities include the development of equine and bovine genetics, as well as other species, the provision of specialized nature tourism services, and an increase in agricultural, industrial and artisanal productions for sales both abroad and in the country.
The MINAGRI has made average annual investments worth 514 million pesos in the last five years, aimed at improving infrastructure, the recovery and expansion of productive capacities, modernization and introduction of agricultural technologies, equipment and implements.
