High efficiency of new Russian Covid vaccine highlighted
Moscow, Jan 19 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Scientific Center for Virology and Biotechnology 'Vektor' assured that its new EpiVacCorona vaccine is 100-percent effective against the Covid-19 pandemic, as per the capital's television.
According to the Russian epidemiological surveillance body, which the aforementioned scientific center subordinates itself to, the vaccine created from peptide antigens has the maximum immunological effectiveness.
This could be verified during the clinical or post-registration trials of the vaccine, registered and authorized for its production last October by the Ministry of Health of Russia.
The EpiVacCorona, in whose trials more than 3,000 volunteers and people over 60 years of age participated, was made with synthetic substances and is easy to transport, since it only requires a storage temperature of between two and eight degrees Celsius.
At least 45,000 people in Russia are ready to be immunized using the vaccine, which will be added to Sputnik V, the first of its kind to be registered in the world on last August 11.
Russia is also readying the ChuVac vaccine, produced by the 'M.P. Chumakov' Federal Center for Science and Development of Immunological Preparations. Serial production of this third Russian vaccine is expected to begin next February.
The Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko pointed out that the plans for the production of the vaccine are proceeding as planned, with two million doses planned for the end of this month and February to come. Russia began mass vaccination against the disease on Monday, in compliance with an order given by President Vladimir Putin last week to go from a large-scale immunization of risk sectors to a massive immunization of the entire population.
