Hanoi, Jan 23 (Prensa Latina) Exactly one year after the outbreak of Covid-19 in Vietnam, the country has only reported 1,548 cases and 35 deaths due to this cause. Such figures are the best rates of infected people and deaths per million people among nations with more than 80 million inhabitants, a performance recognized by the World Health Organization, specialized institutions and foreign experts.
In order to celebrate the first year of meritorious coexistence with the disease, this Saturday the commission in charge of containing the pandemic reported no cases and indicated that 91 percent of the accumulated cases have been recovered.
Among the patients still hospitalized, 31 tested negative for at least one test for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the disease, so the number of recovered patients should increase in the coming days.
In all cities, services are operating as usual, cultural, sporting and social events that had been suspended are back on schedule, and the only sign of the presence of Covid-19 is the use of sanitary masks in public places and public transport.
At the same time, research is progressing on four vaccines manufactured domestically against the disease, two of which are already being tested in humans with satisfactory results.
The country is entering a phase of new normality, which consists of reviving the economy and social life in general.
