Mexico, Jan 25 (Prensa Latina) Hope is again rekindled in Mexico due to a decrease in the number of Covid-19 contagions to 10,872 on Monday, after over a month with reports between 15,000 and 24,000 cases.
The number of deaths also decreased to 530, nearly 1,000 fewer than those reported in the past three weeks.
However, these figures could be misleading because Monday's reports refer to the weekend, when records traditionally drop because less test centers at work, and the laboratories that certify these tests and classify deaths work part-time.
The Secretariat of Health indicated in its morning update that the accumulated number of contagions amounts to 1,763,219 and the death toll is 149,614.
It highlighted that the estimated number of active cases amounts to 114,449; that is, those who have had symptoms in the past 14 days and are contagion agents, which means one percentage point less regarding the previous epidemiological week.
To date, 4,426,668 people have been studied and 2,238,405 of whom tested negative; whereas the number of recoveries amounts to 1,320,448.
Hospitals remain overcrowded in Mexico City, Guanajuato, Estado de Mexico, Nuevo Leon, Morelos and Hidalgo. As for the vaccines, aunthorities are expecting this week the arrival of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, because the deliveries of Pfizer-BioNTech have stopped.
