San Juan, Jan 25 (Prensa Latina) The Puerto Rican Governor Pedro R. Pierluisi announced that he will present a declaration of an emergency draft for gender violence to the Financial Oversight and Management Board (JSF) for approving the required budget.
Convinced that femicide, which caused the death of 67 women in Puerto Rico in 2020, needs special attention as feminist organizations have recently claimed, Pierluisi said he will include such a budget request.
The JSF, imposed by Washington in 2016 to control Puerto Rico´s finances in the face of fiscal bankruptcy, will have the last word on whether to approve the economic resources requested by the government on Monday.
Recognizing that women are the greatest victims of femicide, he expanded the executive order 'to be gender-based violence, because I want this to address the various types of violence, whether it is psychological or physical, to address all aspects of gender identity.'
