26 de enero de 2021, 15:30La Paz, Jan 26 (Prensa Latina) The general director of the Bolivian Penitentiary Regime, Juan Carlos Limpias, confirmed on Tuesday a relative success in the country regarding the containment of Covid-19 in prisons.
Limpias highlighted the achievement as a result of prevention at national level, with measures applied in over 40 prisons that include encapsulation, distribution of the Ivermectin drug, raking, isolation and use of medicinal plants, among others.
He pointed out that currently there are less than 10 Covid-19 cases in the country's prisons, who will be discharged in the next few days as their health condition is evolving favorably.
The leader indicated that in the Monteagudo prison (department of Chuquisaca), 42 of the 44 infections have been recoveries and two are active cases, in addition to other mild cases in prisons in the interior of the country.
Limpias noted that there the rate of infection has dropped by more than 95 percent.
He pointed out that in Villa Montes (Tarija department), Pando and Beni there are still some inmates with symptoms, although in the next few days they will know about their health condition after knowing their PCR tests' results.
