Brasilia, (Prensa Latina) Former Argentine player Hernan Crespo signed on Saturday for two years as Sao Paulo's new coach, following a previous verbal agreement between the Brazilian soccer club and the former striker.
'After a technical, careful and meticulous evaluation, in which we consulted several coaches, we understand that Hernan Crespo fits perfectly in what we think for Sao Paulo,' said club president Julio Casares.
He considered that Crespo 'has a successful record, he was a great soccer player and is now a very promising coach. We will have a captain with a winning mentality and Sao Paulo's DNA,' he remarked.
In the negotiation, it was agreed that Crespo will have five more professionals in his coaching staff.
Champion of the South American Cup with Argentine Defense and Justice club last month, the 45-year-old former striker was the board's choice after several interviews with candidates for the position previously held by Fernando Diniz.
