China stresses value of respect to boost relations with the US
Beijing, Feb 22 (Prensa Latina) China insisted on the need to prioritize mutual respect, dialogue, and non-interference in internal affairs with and from the United States to successfully redirect bilateral ties on the path of cooperation.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi recalled that these principles and the proper handling of discrepancies constitute a basic norm in international ties.
Wang called on Washington to respect China's fundamental interests, national dignity and development rights, specifying that his country has no intention of challenging or replacing it.
The official spoke out for peaceful coexistence and demanded that it stop supporting actions related to the situation in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tibet and Xinjiang, as they are internal to Beijing and concerning its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
'We urge the US side to stop smearing the Communist Party of China and China's political system, stop generating intrigues (...) It is crucial to strengthen mutual understanding through dialogue and not allow our ties to be defined by the differences', the Foreign Minister stated.
He called for adopting a progressive, inclusive and open-minded attitude, reactivating or establishing frank communication at multiple levels and moving in the same direction to solve bilateral problems and face the challenges of today's world.
Wang proposed working together on the global economic recovery, the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and climate change.
