Ramallah, Feb 23 (Prensa Latina) Palestinian health authorities reported 1,992 new cases of Covid-19 today, most of them diagnosed in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
This is one of the highest daily figures since the start of the outbreak in March 2020.
Territories under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) remain in a state of emergency, allowing the implementation and monitoring of strict preventive measures, including blockades of communities, villages and cities with a complex epidemiological panorama.
In an urgent request for help, the head of the sector, Mai Alkaila, on Tuesday sought support from the United Nations (UN) to accelerate the supply of anti-Covid-19 vaccines to these districts, Wafa news agency reported.
The expert explained that the ANP has managed to obtain them through different sources.
In the previous days, a shipment of Sputnik V bulbs, a formulation developed by Russia, arrived in the Gaza Strip.
