Washington, Feb 24 (Prensa Latina) Organizations of Cuban and Latin American emigrants in Miami, Florida, on Wednesday stressed the importance of February 24, the 126th anniversary of the beginning of the last war of the Cubans for independence from Spanish colonialism. In a press release, the Marti Alliance Coalition affirms that Cuba continues to be besieged by the enemies of its sovereignty and fundamental liberties.
The text is signed by the Antonio Maceo Brigade, the Marti Alliance - as an individual organization - the Jose Marti Cultural Association; the Bolivarian Circle of Miami, Negra Hipolita; the Women's Association and Radio Miami, and two fraternal organizations, Fornorm and Pazamor.
Jose Marti knew how to fulfill his mission, along with the Cuban men and women who accompanied him and helped him in migrating in the patriotic endeavor of promoting in a disciplined and self-sacrificing way the Necessary War for the redemption of the homeland in spite of the adversities they faced, the press release adds.
'We, the members of the patriotic organizations of the Cuban and Latin American emigration, join the rest of our people in the celebration of such a distinguished day,' they affirm.
The Cuban people continue to be victims of the genocidal unilateral policy of the US blockade that is the main obstacle to a future process of normalization of bilateral relations.
However, according to the signatories of the statement, over a month after taking office 'nothing has been done by Joe Biden's administration,' in spite of the statements that encourage the feeling of justice and equity to reestablish the links between both peoples and governments.
