Brasilia, Feb 28 (Prensa Latina) Former President Dilma Rousseff affirmed that there are many reasons for Brazil's Supreme Federal Court (STF) to annuls the trial of former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and restore his political rights.
The Supreme Court 'has a great opportunity to rewrite its trajectory of omission facing the attacks on democracy and fully assume the status of a constitutional court, containing and punishing the greatest judicial scandal in history,' Rousseff said during the so-called Mutirão Lula Livre.
In the meeting with other politicians, leaders of social movements and artists, the former president insisted that there will be no justice or democracy in Brazil until the 'brutal persecution' of the deactivated Lava Jato Operation against the founder of the Workers' Party is annulled and repaired.
According to Rousseff (2011-2016), the working group in the southern city of Curitiba was a 'fundamental instrument' in the attack on democracy.
In addition, she denounced, the group served the 'neoliberal agenda' that annihilated social welfare policies and promoted the destruction of companies and the delivery of the country's wealth.
'Lava Jato bypassed controls, hid information, broke hierarchies, acted clandestinely, falsified arrests and blackmailed prisoners. It invented depositions, promoted illegal investigations even by ministers of higher courts, and signed secret agreements with foreign agents,' the former president said.
