Guatemala and Cuba to square off prior to World Cup
Guatemala, Mar 24 (Prensa Latina) The national soccer teams of Cuba and Guatemala are preparing to square off in what is to be the first World Cup qualifying match for Qatar 2022.
The Guatemalan team is training for this group C game with everything because 'we risk our lives against Cuba,' according to midfielder Rodrigo Sarabia.
An opinion shared by many of those summoned by coach Amarini Villatoro, who will have to imbue his team with the necessary optimism not only to play against Cuba, but also the British Virgin Islands, on March 27.
With great press coverage, the encouragement of the national team is visible from the local Federation and the fans with phrases such as 'Guatemala together!', 'We are excited to see you again' or 'Ready for everything and win'.
Support for the home team is accompanied by small videos with opinions of their players on the preparation and the first challenge to defeat Cuba.
Without ignoring the quality of their rivals, Cuban coach Pablo Elier Sanchez hopes to get a good result, as his players are young and talented, in addition to being playing with foreign clubs for the first time.
The game will take place at 6:00 p.m., local time, under strict health protocols against Covid-19.
