Bolivian official highlights development of Cuban vaccines
La Paz, Mar 30 (Prensa Latina) Former Bolivian Health Minister Ariana Campero on Tuesday highlighted the development of Cuban Covid-19 vaccines and analyzed the coup d'état in her country.
'The Soberana 02 and Abdala vaccines are the most avanced in the studies. They are in the third phase now,' and 'the entire Cuban health personnel is being administered Soberana 02 against SARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease,' Campero, also a diplomat, told Bolivia TV via Internet.
Cuba has decades of experience in scientific research, she said on El siete a las seis program, on which she spoke about the work of the Finlay Vaccines Institute and the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center, which developed the five Covid-19 vaccine candidates under trial in Cuba.
Campero added that Cuba's technological sovereignty is not improvised or new during the pandemic. It has years of practice because Cuba produces most of the vaccines administered to children, she pointed out.
The former health minister, who studied at the Latin American School of Medicine in Havana and became the youngest minister in the Evo Morales administration (2006-2019), described the health crisis in her country as harsh, due to bad planning and poor addressing the Covid-19 pandemic by former coup authorities headed by former President Jeanine Añez.
'The de facto government's efforts were null and slow. They did not guarantee vaccines for the population,' the official, appointed ambassador to Cuba in June, 2019, asserted.
