Cuba's Movement for Peace rejects impact of US blockade
Havana, May 3 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Movement for Peace and Sovereignty of the Peoples on Monday rejected the US blockade's impact on the country and urged friendly organizations to strongly condemn such policy.
In a statement published on its website, the organization's members stated that the US blockade is a complex web of sanctions, coercive actions and persecution of entities from all geographies.
That policy deprives Cubans from obtaining food, medicines, products and resources of all kinds, which is the main issue at the United Nations' debate on the consequences of this aggression.
'The determination to sustain and increase the mechanisms that make up this integral blockade against the economy (...) represents, without any discussion whatsoever, an attitude that violates the precepts of International Law, and numerous Conventions and Treaties adopted by the specialized entities of the United Nations System,' representatives of that movement add.
The statement refers that former US President Donald Trump tightened during his administration the dimension of the sanctions of the US blockade with over 240 measures 'against a country that does not bow to imperial interests.'
'The blockade, maintained intact by current President Joe Biden, is also a virus that falls with devastating force on the daily lives of Cubans, and prevents us from having the essential resources to move towards higher paths in many areas,' the movement's members note.
