Russia holds last rehearsal for Victory Day Parade
Moscow, May 7 (Prensa Latina) The last rehearsal for the traditional May 9 parade, in tribute to the 76th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany, took place this Friday at Moscow's Red Square.
Thousands of soldiers and a gigantic column of military vehicles paraded through central Moscow avenues, accompanied by the flight of planes that could be seen in the blue sky of the city, touched today by an excellent weather.
From early Friday, entire families took to the streets to greet the soldiers and admire the dress rehearsal of the parade, scheduled to begin at 10:00 hours, local time, on Sunday, May 9.
Under strict sanitary measures, it is expected that the Victory Day military parade will involve more than 12,000 soldiers and about 200 military vehicles and other equipment, in addition to 76 aircraft: 23 helicopters and 53 planes.
The date is the moment to recall the Soviet victory and the troops of the allied countries over Nazi Germany in World War II, which was reached on May 9, 1945.
In addition to Russia, most of the former Soviet Republics, which were also protagonists and victims in the confrontation with the German fascism, commemorate Victory Day.
