PARLASUR vice president calls to end to the blockade of Cuba
Buenos Aires, Jul 14 (Prensa Latina) Vice President of the Parliament of the South (PARLASUR), Argentinian Oscar Laborde, on Wednesday called for an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States more than 60 years ago.
On talking to Prensa Latina, the also President of the PARLASUR Democracy Observatory sent his love to Cuba for its struggle and example. We support Cubans against this injustice, and those who say they are concerned about the island should ask for the blockade to be lifted, he stressed.
After criticizing those who now say they are concerned about Cubans but remain silent about the unilateral blockade imposed on the island by successive US governments, Laborde added that what they should not do in Latin America is to promote coups like the one in Bolivia or military interventions.
Several Argentinean legislators and political personalities have joined the urgent request for the United States to lift the blockade, which has been tightened amid the pandemic, with more than 240 measures imposed by the administration of former President Donald Trump, which have not been changed since Joe Biden took office.
Senator of Buenos Aires province, Gustavo Traverso, also condemned the blockade. We condemn the US blockade against Cuba; we join the request for the immediate end of this policy that affects the people. It is inadmissible that, in an unprecedented world crisis, there are economic blockades, he tweeted.
