Colombian government criticized for assassination of former guerrilla
Bogota, Jul 26 (Prensa Latina) Comunes Party Senator Victoria Sandino charged on Monday that the government of President Ivan Duque pretends to comply with the Peace Agreement as bloodshed increases in Colombia.
Referring to the assassination of former guerrilla Yorbis Valencia Carabali in Buenos Aires, department of Cauca, this is a 'criminal state', she emphasized.
Based on that, Sandino criticized Duque, who praised his 'alleged great advances in peace' on Sunday.
'What we see is the increase in bloodshed that adds up to 279 peace signatories,' the opposition congresswoman said on her Facebook profile.
According to the Institute of Studies for Development and Peace (Indepaz), Valencia Carabali was part of the Carlos Patiño de la Elvira Territorial Space for Training and Reincorporation, in Buenos Aires, Cauca.
Since January 2021, 30 former guerrillas from the dismantled Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) who reintegrated into civilian life have been assassinated, totaling 279 since 2016, when the Peace Agreement was signed.
'This is a criminal State, it signed a Peace Agreement, but it does not guarantee the lives of the signatories, it is a cheating State that neither complies with its words nor bets on turning the page of violence, simulating the implementation of the Agreement, which only allows the dead to pass undaunted, showing their incompetence,' the senator remarked.
