Friends of Cuba in Colombia propose Day of Continental Rebelliousness
Bogota, Jul 26 (Prensa Latina) The Colombian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba proposed that July 26 be declared by the peoples of 'Our Americas' the Day of Continental Rebelliousness.
Colombia's solidarity group proposed the initiative in a communiqué just as Cuba commemorates the 68th anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks under the leadership of Fidel Castro, an action that changed the history of Cuba and the continent.
The attacks on the strongholds constitute a historic turning point whence the second, true and definitive Independence of Our Americas began, the Movement highlighted.
The Movement stated they are celebrating the date and also the presence of 'Puentes de Amor' ('Bridges of Love'), a US solidarity movement which demands the Senate and Presidency of the United States to immediate and the blockade against Cuba.
The solidarity groups rejected the policy, ratified recently by President Joe Biden, against the will of all the peoples of the world, with the exception of the United States itself and Israel, 'two governments isolated morally from the rest of humankind.'
'The heroic Cuban people is accompanied by justice and the affection of the peoples who want a better world to raise the quality of life worldwide and save the common habitat for the new generations,' the statement stressed, and went on to emphasize that nothing or no one will be stop anymore the cry of mankind, which does not understand how a cruel and merciless blockade is still in force at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
